Mom’s Big Book of
Things to Make

This book is for all the moms (and dads)
who love to spend time with their children. You may be a
working mom, who wants to make the most of the valuable
time that you have with your children when you are not
working. Or you may be a mom who spends lots of time at
home, and is always looking for new things to try.
Mom’s Big Book of Things to Make contains over fifty art
and craft projects you and your children can make
together. Each project is explained in easy to follow
instructions, and full colour photographs are included to
help you along. To start off, there are projects that
will teach children the basic skills of drawing and
colouring; cutting and gluing; painting and modelling. For
each of these skills there are projects that range from
very easy (for the little ones from as young as two years
old), to more advanced (for the children up to ten years
old). The section on making gifts are filled with ideas
on gifts to make for girls or boys, Mom, Dad, Granny,
Grandpa and teachers. These projects are slightly more
advanced than the basic skills projects, and it’s likely
that mom and child will work together to make these
special gifts. You will also find ideas on how to make
wrapping paper and gifts cards. There is also a section
on projects for special occasions. These include special
decorations for Easter and Christmas, as well as art and
craft ideas for birthday celebrations.
Mom’s Big Book of
Things to Do

In today’s world, children are easily
caught up in the fast pace at which we
live our lives. We are ruled by
technology and it’s rapidly filtering
through to the younger generations. Yet,
the basic needs of children have not
changed from when we were young. They
need nutrition and shelter, love and
attention and they need to PLAY. They
need to play physical games and they need
to play games that stimulate imagination,
creativity and learning. This book
provides moms and dads with loads of
ideas for children’s games and
activities. The section on active
games includes ideas for ways to keep the
children off the couch and getting
physical exercise. The games range from
learning basic ball skills to doing
treasure hunts and obstacle courses. A
section of the book is devoted to party
games and activities for all ages. The
brain games section of the book provides
easy to follow instructions for games and
activities that will aide in the
development of memory and observation;
listening skills; numeric skills and
literacy. It caters for the little ones,
with easy games such as Simon Says, and
the older children, with games such as
anagrams, solo dominoes and soduko. The
games in this section are also ideal for
keeping boredom at bay on long car trips.
A section in the book is devoted to
ideas for stimulating a child’s
imagination through role play and let’s
pretend games. In the science and
magic section of the book, easy science
experiment that illustrate basic science
concepts such as surface tension, density
and static electricity are explained with
step by step instructions. Also included
are a few magic tricks and illusions,
bound to have your child’s audience in
awe. The book ends off with a survival
kit of things to keep around the house in
case of boredom emergencies. The kit
includes many things that you already
have around the house, and which can be
put to good use in keeping the children
occupied.
